Easy Deal of the Week- Free yogurt, anyone?

I am currently a bit under the weather, so I will bless you with but one Easy Deal of the Week this week- but it's a good one! In last Sunday's paper (10/26), there was a coupon for $0.50/1 Breyers product. The coupon has a photo of Breyers ice cream on it, but it states that it is good for any "Breyers product."

Individual Breyers yogurt cups are usually priced anywhere from $0.50-$0.75 at most grocery stores, so you could get these for free or less than $0.25! Even more exciting, if you have a store (like Kroger for me) that doubles coupons, you could get these free plus a little overage.

Now, with this deal I am going to try something I have never done before. Since the coupon does not expire until 12/20/08, and the price of the yogurt cups is a regular price, not a weekly sale price, I have actually purchased a packet of 20 of these coupons on eBay for $1 (plus $1 shipping). I figure that 2 bucks for $10 worth of yogurt is a pretty good deal, not to mention the overage I can get if I buy them from Kroger. I must admit, I'm a little excited... ;-)

Have you ever purchased coupons for a deal before? Did you think it was worth it? Leave a comment, I'd like to hear your experiences!

  1. I have purchased coupons for the Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta. Lately it has been going on sale 3/$5 and the coupons are $1/1. This yields me pasta for 67 cents or cheaper if I go to walmart where they are normally 1.50. I bought 20 of them on ebay recently that I just need to use up by the end of November which won't be a problem.
Question for you on the doubled coupons. If a store doubles coupons, do you have to ask them to do it? I am really confused about this. I have Fred Meyer, QFC (Kroger), Albertsons, and Safeway near me.

  2. Keevy Family- whenever I have presented my coupons for $0.50 or less at Kroger, they have been doubled automatically. If you are unsure how your local store does it, you can always ask the cashier at checkout.

The pasta sounds like a good deal- if this yogurt thing works out, I am going to start keeping my eye open for more deals like this where I can purchase coupons and do the same deal over and over.

    Thanks for your comment!
