Sometimes as moms we are so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget to take a few moments to take care of ourselves. I don't know about you, but for me a long luxurious bubble bath is usually out of the question. However, I have found that this 2-minute bedtime ritual helps me feel pampered and pretty, and is an inexpensive little daily treat!
Often in the winter, the cold dry air will wreak havoc on my lips and my skin, so I keep a bottle of Freesia-scented lotion from Bath & Body Works and a tube of Overnight Lip Renewal by Sally Hansen (it was free after rebate at Rite Aid one month) in my nightstand drawer. Right before I get into bed each night, I put on the lip renewal and I massage the lotion into my hands. The scent soothes me to sleep, and when I wake up in the morning, I have wonderfully soft hands and smooth supple lips. You could use any kind of lotion that you like, and even a simple tube of chapstick can help your lips stay soft.
Take a few moments each night to pamper yourself. You're totally worth it!

I need to start making of list of these things that are easy and relazing...for use during labor! I'm going natural, and I need lots of things to relax me. Any ideas for some great relaxing music I can put on a cd??
ReplyDeleteAlicia- for relaxing music I would go for anything by Enya and Paul Cardall has some beautiful instrumental church music that I love.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, all I can say is good luck. I can't imagine going natural. I've had two great birth experiences with an epidural, so I think I'll just stick with what I know! But really, more power to you. You're a brave woman. The one thing I have heard is that in order to go natural you have to be 100% committed- no Plan B.
By the way, when are you due?
I should do something like that! The best I'm doing at the moment is a nice hot shower every morning. It feels so good!
ReplyDeleteI have a daily tea ritual. Every night my husband and I enjoy a cup of tea and talk about how the day went. It's a great way to re-connect at the end of the day. Love your blog, by the way!

Good times on a budget!
I am so glad I found your blog. It is calming. I like to play with my dog for relaxation.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your blog. I was so lucky to come upon "Beautiful Mess" blog and then found your blog from her blog! I especially loved reading "Spiritual Sunday".
ReplyDeleteBut...as far as having a pamper moment, I just don't. I truly need to work on that. I'll be back. Such a sweet place to come!
Mrs. Mordecai- a hot shower is a great start. I can't do that in the morning, because then I never want to get out! I take mine at night when I have lots of time to enjoy them...
ReplyDeleteValerie- I think that "tea time" is a fantastic idea whenever you do it, whatever you drink. I myself enjoy a nice cup of hot cocoa in the evenings (with marshmallows and whipped cream- yumm!).
GrannyKaren- Thanks for the kind comments. I love my animals. My dog can be a pain, but I love him, and my cat is like another one of my children (well, if my children were adults with their own lives that only occasionally intersected mine!). She and I love to chat in the evenings.
