Post-Valentines Looooove

Valentines Day is past and Easter is just around the corner, so stores are now trying to clear out the old to make way for the new! Which is great news for us bargain hunters, as it means we will be getting some awesome deals here in the next few weeks.

Today I stopped by CVS and discovered their Valentines clearance for 75% off, meaning that we are now in the "sweet spot" for the after-holiday sales- it's the time when we've moved past the not-so-discounted discounts (think 25-30% off) and we're into the deeper discount phase (75%+ off). Because we're not into the rock-bottom discount phase yet (90% off baby! whoo!!) there is still a good selection in the stores. That's why I consider it a "sweet spot" for finding the best bargains.

I managed to score 3 bags of Hershey Kisses (hey, the wrappers may be pink and red, but that chocolate inside still tastes the same!!) for $0.87 each, two packages of heart and flower shaped marshmallows for $0.25 each, a bag of heart-shaped lollipops for $0.25, and a package of "Lotto for Lovers" tickets (so funny, I just had to) for $0.50.

Post-Valentines clearance is some of my favorite because I can stock up on little love reminders that I can use for my kids and my husband all year long. Love never goes out of season! Also, many of the Valentines clearance items can also easily be used in Easter baskets (especially if your kids are young!) so now is a great time to start thinking ahead.

I'm planning on checking out a few more stores this week to see what else I can score while we're still in the sweet spot!

Have you found any great Valentines clearance deals? Leave a comment and share!

Free Address Labels Plus $1.24 Profit with Inbox Dollars!

Remember my post last week about Inbox Dollars? Well, I wished I had some exact numbers for you to show how great the deals can be, but I didn't. Fortunately, another great offer popped up in my inbox today- order select FREE products from Vista Print, get $5.00 from Inbox Dollars. Well, I ordered a really cute set of 150 sticky return address labels that I custom designed with cariacatures of each family member (even the cat and the dog!) and I only paid for the shipping which cost $3.76. I chose the priority shipping option (most expensive) so I could get the labels in time to use them for our Christmas cards.

So basically, I made $1.24 off the deal, and I will now have some super-cute address labels! The only advice- stick with the free stuff! After you place your order, they will show you a ton of other customized products you can purchase, and a million other offers you can do. Just skip 'em and get your free stuff!

Sign up for Inbox Dollars today and get a $5 sign-up bonus when you sign up here.

Ahh, I love freebies...

Two Tools to Save You $$ This Christmas: Inbox Dollars and Entertainment Book

Black Friday is over and done with, but that doesn't mean there aren't still ways to save a bundle this holiday season! I thought I'd share two of my favorite money saving/money making tools with you. I would like to add that I never endorse anything on this blog that I have not tried or would not be willing to try, and if I say I've tried it- I'm telling the truth! And if I'm endorsing it, I really believe in it and I enthusiastically recommend it to my friends (like you!) whether you sign up for/buy it through my blog or not (though it's awfully nice when you do sign up through my blog ;-)).

The first thing I want to recommend is Inbox Dollars:

This is a company that I really like because there are so many ways to both earn money and save money. I signed up for Inbox Dollars earlier this year, and I have gotten one check from them. Basically, the way it works is that once you sign up, they start sending you e-mails with advertising in them. All you have to do is to click the link in the e-mail that says, "Click here to confirm reading this paid e-mail", and you receive a few cents for each e-mail you read. I'm always checking my e-mail throughout the day anyway, and it only takes a few seconds for each one, so I don't mind doing it and getting paid.

Every now and then you'll get an e-mail that will contain a special offer by a company, and if you take advantage of the offer and sign up with the company or purchase the product, Inbox Dollars will reward you with more cash. For example, I purchased some business cards through one of the e-mails I got, and only paid a few dollars for a few hundred business cards and got $4 through Inbox Dollars for doing it. So really, with the promotion, the cards cost me very little (I wish I could remember the exact numbers, but I can't). Right now there is a deal for Snapfish that is a good example of the type of thing I'm talking about- sign up and get $4 from Inbox Dollars plus 50 free prints. Not bad!

Another cool thing about Inbox Dollars is that if you do your online shopping through their site you can earn a percentage back on everything you spend. You can shop at all your usual spots- for me it's eBay, Amazon, Target, and Wal-Mart- but you get back anywhere from 1% to 15%, depending on the store.

The other two ways to save with Inbox Dollars are cash surveys ($0.50-$1 apiece) and cash games (I have never done those). I like the surveys because sometimes I have a few minutes to kill (on hold, watching tv, etc.) and you might as well make a little money while you're not otherwise occupied.

Like I said, I signed up earlier this year, and I reached the point where I could request a check- I think it was $30- and I had to pay a "processing fee" of $5, which wasn't a big deal because I was still getting $25. But it's just a nice way to "unconsciously" make a few extra bucks without a lot of work and hassle. And, as with most of these kinds of companies, you can increase your earnings by getting your friends to sign up.
If it sounds like something you'd be interested in, you can sign up here. It's free to sign up, and you can start making money and shopping right away. It works for me!

My second recommendation would have to be the Entertainment Book (this is a great deal they're offering now, by the way):

Save on all the things you love to do!

It's a coupon book, and the name of it is somewhat misleading because it has coupons for everything from restaurants to movies to all the major retail stores. This year is the second year in a row I've purchased one (last year was when I discovered it- through Inbox Dollars, actually!) and it has already paid for itself and I've only had it for a month.

Just for fun, I decided to make a brief list of some of the great places other than restaurants (because I think they have nearly every restaurant in here- from McDonald's to a Japanese Steakhouse) included in my Entertainment Book this year:

- Linens-n-Things
- Dick's Sporting Goods
- Shoe Carnival
- Wet Seal
- S&K
- Sharper Image
- Brookstone
- Radio Shack
- Barnes & Noble
- Florists of every kind
- Car & Truck rental
- Automotive services
- Zoo
- Symphony
- Movie Theater
- Bowling
- Theme Parks
- Hotels
- Lawn Care

And the list goes on and on! I don't know about you, but chances are I'll be going to at least two restaurants this year, and if the restaurant coupons are Buy One Entree, Get One Free (most of them are) then I've just paid for my book.

Another great feature of the Entertainment Book is that you get an online membership as well, which allows you to access additional savings through the website.

You can order the book today (order today and get Free Shipping!) and have it in time for some last-minute Christmas shopping, not to mention that they also make great gifts for your money-saving family and friends. Why pay full price for anything ever again?? ;-)

And of course, this post would not be complete without a brief reminder about Swag Bucks (I just love Swag Bucks!). To read more about my budding Swag Bucks success, click here. :-)

I wish you all the best bargain hunting this Christmas, and I encourage you to expand your money-saving minds and try something new. You never know- you might just hit a gold mine!

Swag Bucks Update!

Search & Win

So if anyone is curious about my venture into "Swag Bucks" that I talked about last week, I just wanted to share that it has been 1 week and I now have 25 Swag Bucks! Once I reach 45 I can get a $5 gift card to Amazon.com! Or I can wait for 115 and get a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card. Or I could wait even longer and get even better gift cards... :-) If you want to see how one mom financed nearly her entire Christmas with Swagbucks, click here. But be sure to come back here and use my link if you want to sign up! ;-)

And just so you know, I don't spend hours online searching just to win Swag Bucks- I do probably an average of 20-30 searches a day. I also don't have a bunch of people who signed up under me- only 3, and only 1 of them has been using the search engine and winning Swag Bucks (she got me 5 of my 25), so really and truly this is an EASY way to get free gift cards! Not to mention it's kind of fun- you'll just be doing your random searching when suddenly a Swag Buck pops up! So exciting!

Anyway, if it can work for me, it can totally work for you. And if you sign up under me, I get more bucks even faster...hee hee hee...So if you think it's something you'd like to try, click here. Signing up is super easy- all you need is a name and an e-mail address. Start today and have your friends sign up under you and by Christmas you (and I!) could have some pretty sweet gift cards...

Have a beautiful thrifty day!

$2 Gift Certificates are Baaack!

Just call me your personal Restaurant.com hookup, because I just love to share these deals with you! Once again, they're doing their best deal yet-
That's right- a $25 gift certificate to a great restaurant for a mere $2! And again, yes, you do have to spend at least $35 to use one of these, but still- $12 for a $35 meal is not half bad! And that means that anytime you have $10 to spare, you can go on a great date or take your family out for a nice meal. To read about my great date using one of these, read this post.

Great stocking stuffers, people...

Gift Cards- Just in Time for the Holidays!

Search & Win

Hey guys, I was just on MoneySavingMom and I saw this post about SwagBucks- this is a search engine site that actually gives you points to do a search. What do you do with the points? Redeem them for merchandise and gift cards! Apparently it's pretty profitable!

I didn't waste any time and I signed up- you can too, just go here to sign up. It's free and you start earning points immediately. I love it when I can do something I always do anyway and it earns me money!

Once you sign up, you can invite your friends to sign up and increase your earnings (that's what I'm doing right now- can you tell?). Let me give you one more link in case you missed it- sign up for SwagBucks and get free stuff and gift cards!!

Again, it works just like a regular search engine (like Google) and it's free to sign up. Check it out!

It's time for another Easy Deals of the Week, where you can snag great deals using only coupons from last Sunday's paper, or coupons you can print from your computer!

Easy Deal of the Week- Free yogurt, anyone?

I am currently a bit under the weather, so I will bless you with but one Easy Deal of the Week this week- but it's a good one! In last Sunday's paper (10/26), there was a coupon for $0.50/1 Breyers product. The coupon has a photo of Breyers ice cream on it, but it states that it is good for any "Breyers product."

Individual Breyers yogurt cups are usually priced anywhere from $0.50-$0.75 at most grocery stores, so you could get these for free or less than $0.25! Even more exciting, if you have a store (like Kroger for me) that doubles coupons, you could get these free plus a little overage.

Now, with this deal I am going to try something I have never done before. Since the coupon does not expire until 12/20/08, and the price of the yogurt cups is a regular price, not a weekly sale price, I have actually purchased a packet of 20 of these coupons on eBay for $1 (plus $1 shipping). I figure that 2 bucks for $10 worth of yogurt is a pretty good deal, not to mention the overage I can get if I buy them from Kroger. I must admit, I'm a little excited... ;-)

Have you ever purchased coupons for a deal before? Did you think it was worth it? Leave a comment, I'd like to hear your experiences!

That's right- two bucks, baby! Woohoo! Date night, here we come!

I like cheap meat!

Check it out- I just paid $1.98 for 5.5 lbs of MEAT! I am so excited! Which is why I would like to pass the joy along!

First of all, a big thanks to MoneySavingMom and Catherine Wheels for this awesome deal. I simply followed the steps Catherine outlined on her site, and it worked like a charm.

All I had to do was to go to the Geico Privileges website to sign up for the site using my e-mail address (all it does is allow you access to the website), then I waited an hour or so for an e-mail confirmation. That e-mail had my gift card confirmation code in it (for a $25 gift card).

Then I went here and typed in my e-mail address, which hooked me up with 12 free hamburgers. I got an e-mail confirmation from them immediately, and I used the link in that e-mail to get to their site and start shopping with my 12 free burgers already in my cart.

At their site, I clicked on the Burgers-Brats-Franks link on the left-hand side of the screen, then selected Burgers and scrolled down until I found the "8 5 oz burgers" option for $12.99. Then I went through checkout (I loved that I could use PayPal!) and entered in all my info. On one of the last screens they asked for my gift card number, which I entered (no PIN necessary), and with shipping, my grand total was $1.98. My burgers will be shipped in a cooler to my house!

I was skeptical, but it appears to have worked! I was thinking I could even smoosh up the burgers and use them as ground beef if I wanted to. Excellent.

Let me know if you try this! I love deals like this!

Easy Deals of the Week

It's time for another Easy Deals of the Week, where you can get a good deal using only coupons from last Sunday's paper or coupons you can print straight from your computer!

Well, to be honest, the Easy Deals are a little sparse this week, so I'm going to venture into Rebate Territory. If you've never done rebates before, this is a great week to start at Rite Aid! This week they have 30 Free After Rebate items, and many of them have printable coupon match-ups, which means that you will get back more money than you paid for them (be sure to check with your local store to make sure they accept printables)! Rite Aid's Single Check Rebate program is really easy to do- you simply purchase the items over the course of the month, then enter your receipts online, and in a couple weeks you get a check. Last month I got a check for $75!

Rather than copy all the deals (that just wouldn't be polite) I will direct you to MoneySavingMom's post here, where she gives the rundown on all the FAR items and the coupons you can use.

This week I'll also recommend looking through MoneySavingMom's list of Wal-Mart deals. Many of them can be done using printable coupons as well.

Now if only I can get my dumb printer working so that I can get some of these deals!!

Have you tried Rite Aid's Single Check Rebate program? How do you like it compared to other rebate programs out there?

Easy Deals of the Week- Hershey's, Gillette Razors, makeup, a toothbrush, and tissues!

It's time for another edition of my Easy Deals of the Week, where you can get some great deals using only coupons from last Sunday's paper or coupons you can print from your computer!

I decided to take it to the next level this week and include deals that save you money using ExtraCare Bucks and Register Rewards. In the past, I have tried to gear these posts toward the non-couponing crowd, and I have tried to stay away from ECBs and RRs so I don't scare anyone off. But I would encourage you to get your feet wet this week and give it a try, then save them to pay for the Easy Deals next week. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this change!

And as usual, thanks to MoneySavingMom for most of these deals!

Rite Aid

Hershey's Special Dark single serve chocolate bars- on sale 2 for $1
Use Buy One Get One Free coupon from Sunday's paper (9/28) and get these for $0.25 each!

CVS

Gillette Fusion Razor- on sale $8.99
Use $4/1 coupon from Sunday's paper (9/28)
Get back $4 in ExtraCare bucks (which you can use like cash for anything in the store), and get it for $0.99!

Get back $5.49 in ExtraCare bucks (which you can use like cash for anything in the store) making it free!

Walgreens

Gillette Fusion razor- on sale $8.99
Use $4/1 coupon from last Sunday's paper (9/28)
Get back $4 in Register Rewards (which you can use like cash for anything in the store) and get it for $0.99!

If you are not familiar with ECBs and RRs, do you think you will be trying them for the first time this week? Do you think I should include the ECB and RR deals in my Easy Deals posts? Leave a comment and share your thoughts!

Some Late (but still easy) Easy Deals of the Week!

Sorry about the lateness of this post- it's been a busy week! But you still have a few days left to snag these deals:

Kroger:
-Glade scented gel warmers- on sale $1.79 each, get a $2 catalina when you buy one (a coupon good for $2 off your next purchase at Kroger, like ExtraCare Bucks or Register Rewards); if you use the Buy One Get One Free coupon from the 9/14 SmartSource insert in the Sunday paper, you can get 2 for $1.79 and then make $2.21 back when you receive the 2 $2 catalinas! You can then use that to go back and get some more...oh, I love these deals! And it's even a great deal without the coupon!

Wal-Mart:
-Johnson's Buddies soaps- "everyday low price" of $0.99 each (these are single bars of soap that are wrapped in a mesh so that kids can grip them and they foam up really nicely- my kids love 'em!), use $3 off 3 Johnson's Buddies products coupon from the 9/14 SmartSource insert in the Sunday paper and get 3 for free!

- Glade air freshener spray- "everyday low price" of $0.88 each, use Buy One Get One Free coupon from the 9/14 SmartSource insert and get them for $0.44 each. (this is a different coupon from the one for the gel warmers, so you can do both deals)

As always, thanks to MoneySavingMom for most of these deals!

Have a beautiful thrifty day! And, as always, be sure to post a comment and let me know how your deals went this week!
